Vacant Job title:  Records Clerk (Full-Time)

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8AM – 4PM

Starting Pay: Under current contract, pay starts at $14.98 per hour topping out at $17.53 per hour after 5 years.

Nature of Job:  Under general supervision and within a secure/locked facility, performs typing and other clerical tasks such as: answering phone calls, assisting the public, performing record checks, indexes and files reports, documents, etc. in accordance with established policies and procedures.  Prepares and types a variety of reports, forms and official documents. 

Qualifications:  Any combination of training and work experience that indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities required.  An example of acceptable qualifications for this position is:  high school diploma plus additional business or other related training.  Basic knowledge of modern office equipment and possess a demonstrable skill in typing.  Possess the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and the capability to function in a secure correctional setting. Must be able to obtain and maintain LEADS certification and be a Notary Public.

Must be 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license.  Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background investigation to include fingerprint analysis.

FISCAL OFFICER 

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the position of fiscal officer.  The fiscal officer prepares departmental bills for submission to auditor, obtains purchase orders, maintains all requisitions, maintains accounts payable and receivable, purchasing and budget.  Duties also include auditing and maintaining fiscal control, monitor and analyze departmental expenditures and encumbers funds.  Also operates as back-up officer for payroll processing and administers grant funds.  The fiscal officer reports directly to the sheriff’s administrative assistant. 

Minimum acceptable Characteristics:  Must have high school diploma or equivalent; must have at least two years work experience in related fields; and/or possession of an Associate degree or evidence of completion of 60 credit hours in business-related fields; must have knowledge of Excel; budgeting; bookkeeping; inventory control; public accounting; office practice and procedures; ability to understand business administration; ability to deal with large number of variables and determine specific course of action; use statistical analysis; ability to operate calculator; define problems; collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; ability to handle sensitive inquiries and contacts with public and government officials.  Must have a valid driver’s license and cannot have a criminal record.

Vacation Time:  Two (2) weeks beginning year two (2) for the first eight (8) years; then advances in stages up to five (5) weeks after twenty-five (25) years.

Upon completion of the entry level exam, all candidate scores are automatically forwarded to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.  Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry level exam will be placed on the Sheriff's Office eligibility list. Miami County Sheriff’s Office personnel will contact candidates on the list and invite them to continue to participate in other stages of the selection process which will include a physical agility test, panel interview, integrity interview, background check, lie detector test, physical exam, psychological exam, drug screen, and final interview with the Sheriff/designee. NOTE: When you are invited to participate in the physical agility test you will be asked to bring a completed application and other forms with you. We do not accept applications for corrections officer or deputy sheriff at any other time.

National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing in a standardized, professional environment. National Testing Network does not replace the Miami County Sheriff’s Office’s responsibility and decision making in the testing process.  All candidate results are provided to the Miami County Sheriff where the final decisions are made.
